Shri Balram Agro Co-operative Society Ltd formed into the cooperative as self-reliant, self-help, mutual aid, autonomous, voluntary, democratic, business enterprises, owned, managed and controlled by members (share holders) for their economic and social betterment, through the financially gainful provisions of services which fulfil a common core felt by the farmers. A country like India where most of population is concentrated in the rural areas and Agriculture or agro-based industry is the back bone, currently facing problems of financial downgrade, price rise, higher inflation and wicked corruption is adding more stress to farmers life by degrading their position from bad to worse. This drives most of the farmers into suicides and migrations to different regions in search of livelihood, considering agriculture no more a profitable business. Keeping this in consideration, the farmers of the Durg district in Chhattisgarh, known as the rice bowl of the country, have discovered a formula to come out these hurdles and make themselves self sustainable through a cooperative society and presented their concept to the whole nation.

After the green revolution, the agricultural produce has tremendously increased. However, the food storage and its processing industry are still at a very bad shape which is a cause of concern to the country. The future of the economic growth of India is highly dependent on the growth of the agricultural sector and industries based on the same. This agro-based industrial integration project setup at Borai village, Durg district, Chhattisgarh state namely, Shri Balram Agro Co-operative Society Ltd. is the first of its kind in India started FOR THE FARMERS, OF THE FARMERS, BY THE FARMERS. This society will not only process the farming produce of the farmers but also intends to develop the infrastructural facilities for all its share holders like by setting up a multi-speciality hospital, education institute, research and training centre for a healthy and prosperous family of all the share holders.
