There are 182 Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) which fall under the control of the Durg district Central Co-operative Bank. Every PACS has allied itself with Shri Balram Agro Co-operative Society (SBACO), which enables all the farmers of the Durg district to be eligible as share holders of SBACO. Only farmers of the DURG district would be eligible to buy the shares.
A nominal share value of Rs.500 per share has been fixed so as to make it affordable to all the farmers in the region. At the same time no individual farmer (or) family can hold more than 1000 shares in order to make the shares available to the maximum number of farmers, however may be their financial position. The produce of the farmers will be procured by SBACO at a premium price and Profit earned after storing/processing the same through SBACO would be shared directly with the share holder. This would also help the farmer eliminate any middle men and earn better price for the produce there by maximizing the profit for the farmers who are a part of the society. Advanced processing of Rice, Soya bean, Cereals, Vegetables, Milk and establishing the required cold storages of the processed food would enable the farmers to fulfil their daily needs from the end products of industries setup by SBACO at a cheaper price and better quality.
In all the 182 Primary agricultural societies that come under the Durg district, super markets will be opened where all the products that are manufactured will be made available for the farmers at a cheaper price compared to the market and with the best quality. SBACO would also include other products which are required day to day by the population of the society within the super markets by procuring from the other manufacturers directly. This wiladd an advantage to SBACO also in eliminate marketing bottle necks and competition, thereby bringing the quality products which were mostly available to the upper sections of the society reachable to the share holders.
Advantages of setting up SBACO:-
The weaker sections of the society get another source of income.
The unemployment problems of the district would be solved to a great extent.
The super markets will enable more women in the villages to be employed. Along with that Self Help Groups will be established, helping women to be entrepreneur utilizing the by-products of the integration complex. SBACO will market all the products finished by the self help groups.
All the educated members of the share holders’ family shall be given priority in the employment opportunities of the project. This shall reduce the un-employment rate of the region.
The socio-economic conditions of the farmers will improve and thereby the betterment of the society.
The migration of the farmers to the other parts of the country will reduce.
Will ensure profitable price to the produce of the farmers, which will encourage the farmer to cultivate and make the land more fertile. Thereby creating a green revolution within the district.
Advising the implementation of latest technologies in farming/cultivating for a better produce and reducing the production costs.
Encourage organic farming by conducting various programs to the farmers for educating them about the benefits.
Organic fertilizers and pesticides will be produced in the complex and will be distributed at a much cheaper price to the share holders/farmers.
